Pack travel size solutions when flying

Contact lens wearers need to think about solutions when packing.

Having a good supply of contact lens solution is incredibly important for the cleanliness and comfort of the lenses.

When travelling by plane a wearer may wish to pack a large bottle in their hold luggage, but may also need some solution on hand for the journey itself.

After all, eyes can become dry on planes and taking out contact lenses and cleaning them can be necessary for a number of reasons.

There are restrictions on the amount of liquid allowed to be carried in the hand luggage of a passenger which is enforced at many airports.

To avoid any problems a contact lens wearer should purchase a 100ml bottle of solution and place it in a clear sealable plastic bag.

Nobody should transfer solution from a large bottle to a smaller one themselves as this is unhygienic and can lead to complications with the lenses.

There are specific travel size bottles of solution available and these should be used.

These will pass through airport security without any problems as 100ml is stated as the amount of liquid allowed and wearers will be able to refresh their eyes on the journey.
