The way that people use contact lenses is changing, mainly due to the fact that daily lenses are widely available and relatively cheap when bought online.
What this means is that those who choose to wear contact lenses on occasion can do so without having to commit to them all of the time.
Gavin Rebello, an expert on sports vision, said: "Contact lenses are so brilliant these days. Daily lenses have revolutionised how we wear contact lenses, so literally you can dip in and dip out.
"If you are a contact lens wearer you don't have to wear them on a full-time basis."
He suggests that people may wish to wear glasses at work, but lenses when they go for a run or undertake other forms of exercise.
Another alternative is to wear contact lenses in order to complete a look, if for instance a person is going out to a posh event or nice meal.
This can be taken a step further to include coloured contact lenses, which can really make a fancy dress outfit standout.
Whereas monthly contact lenses need to be carefully cleaned and stored in sterile containers, daily lenses can be taken out and simply thrown away.
Such easy use of lenses means that dailies are great for those just wanting to give contact lenses a go or wear them for specific activities.
Mr Rebello simply reminds anyone trying out daily contact lenses to wash their hands before putting them in so that they don’t have any problems.
Little bits of dirt on the hands which get into the eyes can be very uncomfortable, especially as the contact lenses can prevent it from being washed out by the tears.
Hygiene is very important with relation to lenses, but washing hands and being careful with them should prevent any complications and they can be a great alternative to glasses.
